Ravensword: Shadowlands

Ravensword: Shadowlands on Xbox probably wishes it was 2013 again, but a lot of things have changed since those times, and this isn’t able to stack up to more modern interpretations.

Ravensword: Shadowlands is a passably playable RPG considering it is an aged mobile port. If you ever want to play an RPG that you can complete in days rather than months for a fraction of the cost then this could be something to pick up. But stiff NPCs, random hit detection/animation, bland storyline, and vast empty lands really make it challenging to fully immerse yourself into the game.

Tho Ravensword Shadowlands is no where near as polished as the two games I mention nor would it have its budget, it does a good job of the story. The Rvensword has been lost and its up to you, a descendant of an ancient line of kings, to find the Ravensword and overturn the Dark times once and for all. You can play this game in first person or third person perspective with just a click of a button while in game which is a nice touch. I preferred to play in third person as I felt it looked better this was as in first person your character does not have a feel for movement well. As like other games, you can find different armour and weapons along with food etc by either buying these goods or killing your enemies and looting them.I found the Map to be a little tricky at times as it didn't quite seem to place me where I really was. There is also fast travel which is very handy. The game has a lot of different areas to explore, from Caves through to the ice caps.As I mention the game has a decent story but there are a number of bugs, glitches and so on. Some of these range from sound glitches through to enemies disappearing and appearing onto of each other. The AI is not the best, they basically just stand still and you can easily walk past them without getting spotted and this is without using the hide / sneak button. All these can be looked past tho and you can enjoy the game for what is it. The only real issue I had with the game and it became annoying was the background coming and going. The background would appear in decent and when you either turn left of right, it would disappear depending on what way you moved.Overall the visuals remind me of a XBOX original game that's been Enhanced but once again with the issues mention above.Ravensword Shadowlands is still a decent game to play if you can look past the issue like I did. I would still recommend it to anyone that's into these types of games, just remember tho, don't expect the same level and you will be fine!Restore the Ravensword!

When you bring a mobile game over to the PC you bring with it the compromises and shortcomings that are acceptable or even applauded and unforgivable in the PC realm.
