Mainly, because of how incredibly easy it is but also, because the soundtrack at times seems very lullaby-ish. Having said that I will review this game as if it wasn't just intended for children. I would also like to preface this review by saying I'm very impressed with this game considering it's a low budget game with a very small design team(2 people). Everyone involved is obviously very talented and I hope to see a more adult oriented and polished game from them in the future. I think these devs have some real potential.Graphics 4/5:This games visuals are very appealing, The artists are obviously very talented but, I did have one issue. Playing this game on a high end gaming machine with a high end monitor revealed some imperfections. Also, at times the characters would really standout from the background. Other than that, quite solid.Sound 2/5:As with the visuals in this game its very apparent the musicians involved with the score are quite talented. My issues here were not with performance but that some of the score itself I simply did not enjoy. Particularly, there is a part of the game with a more electronic music part that, being a musician who plays instruments and produces music digitally, I found very displeasing. Also, as i stated in my preface, some of the soundtrack gives the game a very childish feel. Lastly, I would have given this category a 3 had it not been for the voice over volume drastically changing at times.Story 4/5:A very charming little tale. i particularly love the dog in the game because he reminds me of my dog but all of the characters have a charm to them and the story was actually quite interesting. The story category nearly earned itself a 5 but because the ending was so rushed and cut short it lost a point.Gameplay 3/5:The game has no bugs or broken puzzles that I'm aware of but the puzzles are childishly simple. I can imagine even as a kid(i started playing point and clicks when i was 7 years old) I would have been disappointed with the difficulty. The characters in the game give way too much unnecessary information and slack on giving valuable information. Lastly, and this is a big problem I have with tons of point and clicks, the characters responses to the user trying a false solution is never unique. This is a big aspect that makes the user makes feel more immersed in point and click games. If every time you try something the character gives 1 of 3 auto responses(i.e. "Nope" "Not a good idea" etc.) it becomes monotonous very quickly.13/20In conclusion, I would highly recommend this game for kids and for people who have never played a point and click adventure game. It's a great intro to the genre. Seasoned point and click gamers may find themselves disappointed with what they get for the price tag so it may be best for those folks to wait for it to go on sale.

The Little Acre is a reminder of “point and click” classics like Broken Sword or Monkey Island. Despite its few technical errors, The Little Acre brings us a touching and nostalgic story. Pewter Games Studios has created a well though-out game, with a memorable plot and some unforgettable characters.

Though sometimes derivative in humor and puzzle solving, The Little Acre has a character of its own. A great deal of love has gone into making the game and it rubs off on you. It had such an effect on me that I felt bad punishing the game for its weakest elements. The Little Acre should be celebrated for its talent, artistic know-how, and as a demonstration of its developer's skills. The shortcomings (pun intended) of the game are balanced with its irresistible charm and appeal and ultimately the running time is reduced only to a face value. In the end The Little Acre is a hand-crafted piece of art and I definitely want to see more games from Pewter Games, preferably longer by each outing.

You fall in love with the story and become so attached that it’s a huge letdown when it ends so abruptly. I truly wished The Little Acre had been longer, as it had so much potential. With more time to play out the story, The Little Acre could have been a huge hit.

The Little Acre is a delightful throwback to classic adventure games. The puzzle solutions never get too tough, unlike, say, Machinarium, so players shouldn't need a guide to reach the end. Adult players will love the narrative's core mystery, while children should enjoy the antics of Lily and her friends. The whole thing is both sweet and bittersweet, which you can't say for many games nowadays.

As I was playing The Little Acre, I kept thinking that I should be liking it more than I was. It seems like it’s well-intentioned, but I found it more dull than charming, and more by-the-numbers than thought-provoking. Really, it’s like a shorter, less polished version of Anna’s Quest, and I didn’t even like Anna’s Quest that much. But on the brighter side, The Little Acre is cheap, and it might work well with children, and so for some people it might be worthwhile.

If you are a fan of the point and click style games, or someone with no familiarity with the genre I definitely recommend picking up The Little Acre. It has a great short story element and intuitive, precise gameplay. The few puzzles to be had are easy enough to figure out without getting frustrated, but still make you think enough to keep you engaged.

If I could base this review on the visuals alone, I would give The Little Acre a very high score. The hand drawn images are simply breathtaking, and Pewter Games should be commended for painstakingly bringing Lily, Aidan and the creatures of Clonfina to life. The gameplay, while not extremely difficult, was still quite enjoyable and exploring every nook and cranny is something that any adventure gamer will surely enjoy! Unfortunately, the narrative, something that is important in a point and click game, was filled plot holes and was extremely rushed in the second half of the game.

The Little Acre is a great debut effort with impressive production values for an indie studio, but sadly it’s over far too soon.

We were looking forward to The Little Acre as soon as we saw the lovely art and Charles Cecil’s involvement, but sadly it’s pretty bad. I don’t mind short games but at two hours (including puzzle solving) the game doesn’t leave much room for storytelling, character and world building, compelling puzzles, or much of anything really.

The puzzles are very simple and the set-up and plot have all been done before. The lovingly-crafted animation, uncluttered play, and warm, sharply-written characters could have converged onto a winner here. Sadly, though, there is the distinct feeling that Pewter Games have made a test balloon, a game that teases something bigger yet to come. For all the fondness you might have for it, when the credits roll after what feels like the end of part one, the game is regrettably very aptly named.

The Little Acre exemplifies every reason indie point-and-click adventure games can still do more than hold a candle to the AAA shoot-em-ups with more brawn than brains and beauty combined. The story of a young single dad with a missing father and a rather rambunctious daughter touched my heart in ways I forgot video games could, and every time I had to put the controller down I yearned to just boot the console again and enter the phenomenal world The Little Acre takes place in.
