Capcom hasn't gone to any great lengths with its updated PS5 version of Resident Evil 2, offering fans and newcomers two imperfect graphical modes to choose from. Very speedy load times will have you immersed in a flash, though, and the support for the PS5's adaptive triggers adds another extra wrinkle on top. Resident Evil 2 is still every bit as good as it was three years ago; this PS5 version simply gives you the chance to experience it all over again with further shine.

I know it has some different parts and slightly different story but all in all it has a lot of the scenery recycled. To me, that is a downside but I can see why people like the different perspectives of the playthroughs.Other than that, I have no complains whatsoever. It was a really good game.

It was the national pastime. You know what happened to them? I'm appalled there's so many high reviews for this linear, overly violent, unintelligent, immoral, crude, abomination. It's nothing like the original. Graphics don't and never will make a game good contary to the claims here. And they're not even very good. It looks just like the other modern terrible RE released. Linear and vile. Play Alien Isolation.

Firstly I loved how they integrated the RE 4's shoulder view to the characters. I think it's best to demonstrate the gameplay to the player now. So many details in the models. Graphic engine is really smooth, detailed and optimized. Loved the variations of the zombies (if I'm not wrong 12 different male zombies and 4 female ones, which is a great detailing.) Loved the model depart system applied to the zombies so that the limbs can fall with each shot. Leon looks a little bit like a puppy with his voice. Claire also looks good but a little bit chubby on the cheekbones. I'm just critizing these for a better visual/performance. I think Leon and Claire should share more moments and cooperate more in the gameplay, yet if we play second-run it automatically ignores the first run for the other character, which is odd. I think Ada should have more role in the game since we will not be able to see her soon. They really put some great effort in her and she looks great in this remake. My first play was long (about 10 hours). I have tried to investigate everyplace and confused going to the places to solve the problems in the map so I had to go over like 3-4 times in my first run. The other runs were pretty faster for me, except the different riddles. (My last run was about 2 hours) Anyway, I think it's a little bit short game but still loved the visual greatness, the nostalgia, iconic characters coming back to life again such as Leon, Claire and Ada, also seeing Mr.X was great. Looking forward to the next game. CAPCOM did such a fantastic job with the whole models, textures, game engine, gameplay, mocaps (especially for the storytelling). They screwed things up in RE 6 but I think they put some effort and tried to fix their sins in the recent games such as RE7. I hope to play RE 3 Remake and RE 8 when they come out. Well done.

Resident Evil 2’s remake highlights just how great Capcom’s first sequel in the Resident Evil series ways, but does it in a way that makes it the most compelling entry in the series thus far. The difficulty on normal is well balanced. The different creatures are challenging to kill, but never unfair. Same goes for the puzzles. Some can be solved by just guessing and pressing buttons, others require more (logical) thinking. Those puzzles that require some brainpower are also challenging, but never impossible and leave you with an honest feeling of accomplishment after you solved them.The only negative points i can find are the soundtrack, which is barely there and doesn't really stand out compared to the original and the easy, unoriginal bossfights. Wasted potential in both cases in my opinion.What i especially like about the Resident Evil games is the fact, that they slow down the gameplay, they make you stop and look at the details, they make you think about your environment, about your inventory and how you proceed. It is a very welcome change and contrast compared to all the other fast paced-mainstream-openworld-battle-royale-mech-war-scifi-shooter-games currently out there. Although there are some jumpscares here and there, they aren't used too often. If you are not afraid and can stand the horror, try this game out! It might be worth it.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is a triumph of clever, polished game design, and is quite possibly our favourite game in the series. It leans into terrifying close encounters more than epic action setpieces, but that’s really what the series is about, and RE2 does the terrifying perfectly. Enemies are superb, and the game boasts the best zombies in any game ever - unrelenting and mostly unstoppable, they’re just creepy. Then there’s Mr X, the game’s own Jason Voorhees, continuously stalking you throughout. We loved every moment of Resident Evil 2, and even if you know the first game inside out, you won’t know the Remake at all. If you’ve ever loved a Resident Evil game, or wished that RE7 was third-person, want to go back to RE2 and its great horror design, or just want a horror-action game… get Resident Evil 2 Remake. You won’t be disappointed.

By trying to please so many different players the game will probably not satisfy anyone completely. Resident Evil veterans will feel like it is a bit too simple and unfaithful. New players will wonder about the 90s logic in spending so much time looking for keys so you can politely unlock doors when your backpack is loaded with rocket launchers and oversized shotguns which could just as easily have blown them off their hinges.

Don't labor under the delusion that, if you played the original Resident Evil 2, that you should skip this one for some reason. There’s no excuse of “I’ve already played the original, so I don’t need to grab this one.” You couldn’t be more wrong if that’s your line of thinking. From top to bottom, this is already an early contender for Game of the Year 2019, and one of the greatest reasons ever to be a survival horror fan.
