Dream Alone Rezensionen und Bewertungen
After finishing my time with Dream Alone I didn’t really find myself satisfied with anything that it was trying to do or be. It’s got the makings of a nice little horror story, but there isn’t enough actual story to live up to its opening’s promise.
Dream Alone has a tired story, clunky controls, and flawed mechanics, and most of its problems can be traced to the near-fundamental incompatibility of this type of horror with this type of platforming. Its most promising aspect—multiple dimensions—is by far the creepiest part, which is enjoyable, but it seems to sabotage itself with a few key flaws that impact the entire game’s playability.

Instead, you are looking for some kind of story behind it, and it's there... somewhere. Why is it unplayable? Firstly - messed up filter / art style, everything is dark. And not "dark" like nights in casual games, more like pitch black. You won't see much.Secondly - the game doesn't show you the information you need. It's like, you should jump down there because there is a hole. Great, but 3 last holes like that were traps and I died trying. You just can't see any marks of a trap because of point number 1 - it's too dark. But it's not even the worst! You jump there, and the game didn't tell you that in the left area after the fall there are spikes, and you will die if you didn't jump to the right.HOWEVER, you can't know that! The game wants you to die and learn this that way. It's a common thing in rage games, where you should fail, die and learn for future, but it 'adventure' & 'classic arcade' game (according to Steam). It's frustrating because I hate rage games and love adventure games. I was misled into buying it. At least steam has refund option. For me 1/10. And I don't think it's a good rage game either. Just let this game die and don't give it attention.
Frustrating gameplay paired with needlessly dark and messy levels holds this 2D “horror” platformer back from accomplishing what it sets out to do. It’s difficult to find much Dream Alone attempts that can’t be found better executed elsewhere.

It still has got some issues, but the atmosphere of the Burton's movies and a lot of different and hard levels are still amazing. It gets me. To be fair - 7/10. Not lower IMHO.
