Children of Zodiarcs wurde durch unsere tiefe Liebe zu taktischen RPGs inspiriert, insbesondere Final Fantasy Tactics und die 16-Bit Shining Force-Spiele, sowie durch unsere Liebe zu Brettspielen und Sammelkartenspielen wie Magic: The Gathering. Wir beschlossen, diese Leidenschaften zu vereinen, um ein Spiel zu entwickeln, das Fans des Genres anspricht und gleichzeitig auf unterhaltsame und aufregende Weise neue Maßstäbe setzt.
Die Handlung
Im Herzen eines bösen Imperiums rebelliert eine Gruppe junger Außenseiter gegen das korrupte System, das sie in Schach hält.
Als professionelle Diebe auf der Spur eines uralten Relikts dringt die Gruppe auf der Suche nach ihrem Ziel in die glitzernden Hallen der Privatgemächer eines korrupten Adligen ein und entgeht auf Schritt und Tritt dem Zorn der Stadtgarde. Auf der verzweifelten Suche nach einem Ausweg suchen sie Zuflucht in den schäbigen Slums der Stadt und trotzen den sonnenlosen Abgründen der Unterwelt. Schwer bewaffnete Stadtwachen, rivalisierende Gangs und psychotische Familien von unterirdischen Kannibalen haben es auf sie abgesehen. Vom System im Stich gelassen und von selbstsüchtigen Kriminellen ausgenutzt, sind die jungen Gefährten gezwungen, sich mit ihrer eigenen Realität zu arrangieren. Aber seien Sie gewarnt - in der Welt von Children of Zodiarcs kommt niemand ungeschoren davon!

People usually play Final Fantasy Tactics and its brethren to enjoy stories or varied tactical situations. Unfortunately, Children of Zodiarcs has neither.
At twenty-some hours to completion, Children of Zodiarcs can feel like a long row to hoe. The weight of the story drags it down a bit, as it increasingly becomes obvious that the only character who isn't fundamentally broken in some fashion is the weird foreign kid who only appears in the side story. Everyone else is a bundle of neurotic fears and psychotic motivations, shaken hard and unleashed on an unsuspecting narrative. But negatives for characters aren't always negatives for the game as a whole, and Zodiarcs puts it all together well. It's a good game, and I'm glad to have finished it, but I cannot stop wondering if certain points weren't actually branching paths or plot flags in disguise, if there weren't some way to eke out a happier ending from it all. That may be wishful thinking on my part, but it's a small hope nonetheles. In a city as messed up as Torus, we need all the hope we can get.
Children of Zodiarcs sits you down, makes you feel at home, and presents you with bite-size mechanics that anyone could understand. However, behind the cutesy graphics, and the diorama board-game aesthetic, it is a surprisingly merciless tactical RPG.
Children of Zodiarcs pleases to no end and has you coming back for more, as you work to hone your deck, dice, and tactical style to best synergize your party. A must-have for tactical RPG enthusiasts, it wouldn’t be surprising if CoZ becomes a model for future tactical and card-based games over the next decade.
Combat sequences can be a bit long, The text story is slightly on the dull side. But it really makes up for it's challenging and engaging combat style.
