What I mean is the story is predetermined and has a path that cannot be changed, but a lot of your experience inside the quests will need your imagination to truly be appreciated. It is a simple main story, I remember the beginning much more than the ending, which normally it's not a good sign, I got invested in the beginning, the game pulled me in, but the more answers I got the less interested I was, it wasn't a bad experience, but can't say I was overjoyed at the end.Most quest are simple quests, inside a non linear wide location with linear maps.The biggest problem is the amount of traps and locked chests and doors, if you don't like a rogue class you will need the only rogue companion in the game and you can only choose one, this makes the others non viable which in turn makes the replayability almost non existent, with the exception of going through everything again but with a different class.The DLCs expand a lot in enjoyment and story wise, and adds new classes, the graphics are better, the ingame cutscenes too, it's like the devs had finally figured out the engine and could flex a little bit.If you are a fan of RPG, you'll like this.

If you didn't get the chance at the time to play Neverwinter Nights, then this is a good chance to enjoy a slightly better version of one of the most ambitious role-playing titles in history. Likewise, this game doesn't get the score it could have deserved, because the development company Beamdog couldn't improve the interface or the graphics, so it's an adaptation that has absolutely nothing to do with remastering.

I loved my copy of Diamond edition on PC back in the day and thought getting it on console would get my wife to try it, since she doesn't like using a mouse and keyboard but she loves D&D.Unfortunately, the only enhanced aspects are the visuals (and only in terms of texture compression and monitor resolution) and having direct control of your character (rather than pointing and clicking).Everything else actually seems worse, particularly interacting with merchants and working with your AI partner. In addition, there is virtually no tutorial for either the rules of 3rd edition D&D or controls for the game itself, so a lot of the experience becomes trial and error.I plan to keep playing, since I paid for the game and want to get my money's worth, but it kills me that they could have really made something special if they had just spent some time redesigning the interface and the controls.

This time they've brought us Neverwinter Nights, complete with all it's DLC! With minor graphical updates, including cleaning up the UI, the game hasn't changed much from its original release. The main campaign is out of the norm for most gamers, but locked fans of the Faerun setting in for the long haul. The DLC is another campaign and starts you from scratch. The DLC Story was better received and still seems to have the same standings in the community. The game mechanics are based on the 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons ruleset, and having an understanding of those rules can help, but not having the knowledge won't detract at all from the game. The Original Game had a DM Toolkit, allowing for the creation of your own campaigns and adventures, with both scripted and DM controlled encounters. I have yet to find these features or any knowledge that they will be added to the game later. This hurts how I overall feel about the game as a whole, but for the nostalgia alone, another round of this campaign was a must! Dungeons and Dragons: Forgotten Realms fans Rejoice, as another set of adventures in Faerun awaits! If you're not a D&D old schooler, and just joining the fray, fear not! It'll be just as much of an adventure for you too!

It's a game made for a very specific audience in mind, one which thoroughly knows the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition and doesn't mind the limited graphical capabilities of turn-of-the-century computers. For those fans, or for anyone interested in role-playing PC history, Neverwinter Nights is a no-brainer.

In some ways, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition on Xbox One is Beamdog’s finest translation to consoles, yet in other ways it is one of their worst. However the strengths of both the original game and the excellent new control scheme make this adventure one that is more than worth taking in.

Frames are butter-smooth. I can't tell for sure if it's 30 or 60fps (feels like 60), but panning the camera never causes any stutter.Update after finishing chapter 1: Encountered 1 crash to home, 2 crashes on save, lost saves. Some feats not selectable due to buggy dialog windows.

This addition to Beamdogs rejuvenated D&D games didn’t hit the mark for me as the others did. Its slow-paced combat really kills the momentum and is much tougher than its predecessors even on an easier setting. The story itself is still interesting and gripping, but it’s not enough to save the game from its flaws. With it being so slow, tough and not very pretty it will be hard to pick this over games in the same genre. D&D fans, or fans of the original game may still find some joy here, but newer players may not see what all the fuss was about.

If you feel nostalgic stick with the remastered editions of the 2D games and stay away from this one. We cannot recommend Neverwinter Edition Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 4 not even at a heavily discounted price.

However, the playstation port specifically runs like a fish on sand. Get ready for consistant crashes to home, massive framerate stutters, and NPC behavior bugs. Sometimes panning the camera through a building will cause the software to yeet itself out of running. Sometimes it's opening your inventory. Whatever the trigger, I found that playing. for more than ten minutes at a time tends to elicit a crash. This still does not stop me from trying to play, as the game is wonderful in creative content and I'm determined to enjoy it, but the technical issues sharply effect my ability to enjoy the software.Also, no aurora engine toolkit on console, and that's heartbreaking.

Seriously, you are basically shooting yourself in the foot by getting the enhanced edition, so dont do it. You can get the diamond edition easily on ebay for pennies and I think they still have it on GoG too.The problem here is that Beamdogs added absolutely nothing worth buying. Literally nothing. The old game ran in 1080p just fine and I was even able to use it in windowed mode by just adding -w to my shortcut. They did not even add windowed mode to the game. As for gameplay, no changes whatsoever. Still no natural spell, still no fixes for many spells both arcane and divine, still no fixes for quests like how the snake lady keeps talking to you through undead even after you killed her. Not even a new game mode nor any easy way to make a custom NPC in game... and oh yea, according to the forums, they introduced new bugs. Pathetic.DO NOT BUY THIS. Get the original instead.

Neverwinter is still a solid game (especially the Hordes of the Underdark expansion is worth the time) but it was remastered so slightly that the originally hideous game became merely ugly.

It will obviously cause a backlash because a lot of customers won't notice the difference between EE and old Diamond Edition.
